My art deals with Kabbalistic themes. As my art has tended towards the abstract, so the symbolic and imaginary world of Jewish mysticism has been the basis for my art for the past few years.
I draw inspiration from the abstract expressionists especially Newman and Rothko. Kevin Atkinson, my former painting teacher at Michaelis School of Fine Art, UCT, has also had a seminal influence on my work. I often incorporate mixed media in my work, but generally I prefer acrylic and various hardware paints on canvas or board. For me, form carries content, as form goes beyond the mere design or the decorative.
Through my art I hope to convey a spiritual message and quality that can be received by the viewer. In terms of process, I hope to uplift consciousness, as I believe art can be an intellectual and emotional bridge to the plethora of the unconscious and the higher senses.
